Data acquisition and data management are carried out according to D.d.u.o. dated January 30th 2004 # 1024, or different reference regulations as per customer requests.
An industrial version of a Personal Computer, integrated in the system, collects up to 32 analogue signals of pollutants and controls, by a specially developed Soft Ware, the complete system, including the automatic calibration of each instrument. Measured data can be printed in the format of tables according to D.d.u.o. dated January 30th 2004 # 1024, or different reference standards as per customer requests .
PCF's fully modular system can integrate a variable number of instruments according to specific needs of application and Customers' requests.
Measuring ranges can be chosen via software to meet specification of D.M. # 124 dated February 25th 2000 (for Italian applications).
Modular system philosophy has already been installed in many applications with very good performances, e.g.:
- easy to install and easy to use
- service operation limited to scheduled maintenance
- consumables at very low costs
- high reliability of data acquisition and management
Equipment used to monitor pollutants are according to pos. 6.1 of D.d.u.o. dated January 30 # 1024 of Regione Lombardia (for Italian Customers).
Here below we are describing a few suggested specifications of our standard sampling and measuring system. In any case the system will be designed according to specific Customer's needs.
Sampling probe is fixed to the stack by a DIN 65 Flange; sampling tube is supposed to have a length equal to half stack inner diameter.
To avoid condensation and easy clogging particulates filter is electrically heated (220/110 50/60 Vac 350 W).
Sampling probe is connected to analytical compartment by an heat traced tube; material in contact with sample is Teflon and the controlled temperature is kept up to 200°C in order to avoid possible condensations.
As a general rule sampling probe should be located at 7/10th of stack height, though an higher sampling point on stack is allowed.
Near to sampling probe flanges for the installation of Dust monitor unit could be located.
Flanges, one for light emitting unit and the other for light reception unit, are located in front of each other. Location at lower level is allowed but not at higher one.
At the sampling point compressed air to allow continuous cleaning of optical parts of measuring devices is suggested to be made available. Monitor is connected to the central measuring system by a multi wires screened electrical cable. Again on stack are located, whenever required, Pitot probe with relevant transmitter for flow rate measurements as well as thermal sensor for temperature measurements of stack gases. All these modules are connected to central analytical system by six wires screened cable.
Analytical instrument and central electronics are recovered in IP 55 (on request IP 65 are available) cabinets, which should be installed in closed environment to preserve them from external corrosion and condensed water.
Working conditions for each equipment must bee according to specifications indicated for instrument. Each analyser is supplied with Zero and Span calibration module. Zero calibration is performed by supplying pure air, completely free from pollutants. Span calibration on the other end is performed by traceable certified gas cylinders
Each analyser will analytically measure the pollutant; the most frequently employed analysers are for CO, NO, NOx, SO2, O2, VOC. According to customers' specifications the system may be integrated with further analysers and/or transmitters, e.g. CO2, HCl, HF, Temperature, Flow Rate, Water Content and Barometric Pressure. Relevant data are fed to A/D-D/A converter PCB, then collected by an industrial PC. Also the calibration procedures, status and alarm conditions are fed to I/O PCBs, then managed by PC. A 9" LCD monitor shows measured and calculated data, working conditions and eventually alarm conditions of overall system. Overall system is managed by a specific firmware studied and developed to control and memorise data according to specific requirements of D.d.u.o. dated January 30th 2004 #1024 of Regione Lombardia, or as per Customers' specifications and requirements.
Measuring ranges, data engineering and conversation (e.g. ppm into mg/m3 and vice versa) are easily configurable. Eventual alarms conditions are both visualised on display and recorded in the memory. The program allows data reporting on printer according to D.d.u.o. dated January 30th 2004 #1024 of Regione Lombardia standards or as per Customers' specifications and requirements.
By modem and telephone line connection to a central data acquisition of local Authorities (e.g. A.R.P.A.) in charge of emissions monitoring and controlling is possible. Remote connection via modem and telephone line can also be used for monitoring working conditions, system configurations downloading and service purposes. When needed PCF Elettronica has technical capabilities and human resources to study, develop and implement Hard Ware and Soft Ware solutions to meet specific request of Customers.
The VOC measurement with separation of methane fraction at high temperature can also be proposed. For this purpose we can select between two solution the first with discrete sampling device and GC column, separation and the second one with a fast response analyser showing continuous sampling pumping by heated head pump and the possibility of inserting an high temperature scrubber for the measurement of methane fraction.
PCF's stack monitoring systems are studied, developed and manufactured according to UNI EN 12619 and UNI EN 13526 regulations.
